The combination of a rational thought as a journey and not as the end for the research of an artistic practice that bonds greater feelings and stimulation of the senses is one of the main focuses of this research. Connecting an ideal portion of sensations and a conceptual investigation, working with time and space, the micro and macro all play a role in my artistic research.
Since 2008 I have been working on this project entitled “Ressonâncias” (“Resonances”). It began on paper with pen and ink, as dedication drawings, almost as a meditation way of building a visual and thoughtful immersion. Drawings primarily to reshape and organize thoughts.
Over the years this research gained strength and size, growing more and more, not only physically but in the concepts it aggregates, with the purpose of intensifying the optical and vibrant effect of how the lines are built. Creating more than a drawing but a whole immersive ambiance, a work that could actually play with awareness and aesthetic experience. Always exploring the harmony of this organic graphic as a mantra that resonates in the physical space and internally, via though and solicitousness. That echoes like a vibration. A drawing that goes beyond the mastery of technique where dedication and concentration are essential.
At the beginning, my inspiration came from the heart of a tree, the traces of a stone thrown on across the surface of a lake, and classical music, from where the drawings’ titles originate. As the years passed I migrated towards old topography maps, noticing that the formations the lines were created reminded me of large mountain chains.
Time, concentration, ability: line after line to build a whole. Line after line to compose this visual echo. This research has not ended and I intend to keep building, echoing and resonating.
